Local 97 is the exclusive representative for nearly all employees in NWD Headquarters of the US Army Corps of Engineers - both in Portland, Oregon and Omaha, Nebraska. Supervisors, personnel specialists, and a few confidential employees are excluded from coverage, but the majority of employees (approximately 120) are now in the IFPTE bargaining unit. Founded in 1997, we added Omaha to the unit in 2001 after the former North Pacific and Missouri River Divisions combined into the new Northwestern Division. The Northwestern Division employees are responsible for water resources development throughout the Columbia and Missouri River Basins and military construction throughout the northern states west of the Mississippi River.
